GROUP EXCERCISE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Pure Strength

Build strength, add definition, increase your bone density, and decrease your body fat by increasing your lean muscle. Research has proven that by adding lean muscle to the body you can speed up your metabolism and burn more calories when you work out and at rest. You will use body bars, dumbbells, and resistance bands.

 

Core Zone

The entire core of our body is the foundation for everything we do in life. This class, not only will you get a great 6-pack, but you will set up your body for overall health and injury prevention for the long run. Each class focuses on the upper and lower abs, obliques, back muscles, muscular slings used in functional movement, as well as the hips and glutes to develop better balance. Now that's a healthy core!

 

Total Body Conditioning

This class incorporates strength and cardio segments using equipment such as dumbbells, body bars, and bands, for a total body workout. 30-minute workouts using the method of high reps, low weights. 

 

Yin Yoga

Stretches your body and your mind to new limits as you hold poses a bit longer and focus on deepening the breath and stretching the muscles. It is mainly ground work, however, some standing poses are incorporated to strengthen and lengthen the muscles before stretching in order to relieve the muscles of built up tension.

 

Vinyasa Yoga

Translated from Sanskrit, Vinyasa Yoga classes offer a less vigorous flow between poses but an equal challenge of endurance, flexibility and strength to our Vinyasa Flow classes. Vinyasa Yoga allows more time in each pose to truly experience the effects of dynamic alignment and connection to the breath. Vinyasa Yoga practice is interwoven with wisdom, poetry and music to inspire a balance between physical, energetic, mental, intuitive, and pure bliss states of consciousness. Previous yoga experience is necessary.

 

Rise and Yoga

Experience the benefits of waking up to yoga as you stretch your body, awaken your mind, and fuel your spirit. Salute the sun with a smile and gracefully work out all of the kinks and tightness from your night's sleep. You'll feel energized, have amazing mental clarity, and will be ready to flow through your day with ease.

 

Gentle Yoga

 

A calming, stress-relieving yoga class to stretch and strengthen the body gradually. Emphasis is on building awareness of the breath and the body.

 

Sunshine Yoga

Enjoy an align-and-flow style class designed to wake you up and get you going and flowing into the rest of your day.

 

Balance Fusion

Ideal for anyone and everyone, our blend of yoga-based movements and static stretches embrace elements of martial arts that improve stability and locomotion. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. You’ll leave the class feeling calm and centered.

 

Body Barre

 High energy, low impact, total body workout that will tone the core, glutes, legs and arms.   Created with a focus on proper form, alignment and body awareness.  Fun, upbeat music will take us through this calorie torching class.  Props will vary, but may include body bar, light weights, bands, toning balls.  No dance experience required to get a long and lean dancers body.


Hip-Hop Dance

Learn a new hip hop dance routine as the instructor breaks down the moves step-by-step. You will be completely amazed at how good you do, how alive you feel, and how your body firms up in all the right places.

 

Insanity

INSANITY is a revolutionary program based on the principle of MAX training. Traditional interval training is based on short bursts of high intensity cardio with longer breaks in between intervals but MAX interval training, flips the concept with longer high intensity bursts and shorter 30 second breaks. This enables you to push to new training heights, resulting in faster results.

 

Cardio Blast

Cardio Blast is a great boredom buster! This basic strength and circuit workout is perfect for those days when you want to work everything in a short period of time. This circuit involves alternating low impact cardio exercises with classic combinations of strength moves. Provides benefits of cardio and strength in one simple workout. Sculpt every muscle and blast fat with this step-by-step workout. With Cardio Blast - you’ll love the way you feel, you’ll love the way you sweat and you’ll love the calories you burn!

 

Cardio Gold

Nothing but sweat-inducing moves designed to give you the most burn for your minute, keeping your heart rate high the whole time.

 

Dance Party

Pushes you to the edge and redefine fun. Pump in some great tunes, add trendy music, and you just might sneak in an incredible workout. It will be the Friday night you imagines it would be.

 

Indoor Cycling

 Pedal your way through an excellent total cardiovascular conditioning workout, complete with hill climbs, sprints, jumps and many other challenging drills and exercises.

 

Morning HIIT

High, low, fast, slow, controlled… start your morning with no nonsense. With benefits such as jump starting your brain, staving off cravings throughout the day who would miss out?

 

Bootcamp

Participate in traditional calisthenics, various forms of plyometric exercises in a supportive environment. Move through obstacles based on functional movement developing speed, agility, and much more.

 

Cardio Kickboxing

The combination of intense cardio kickboxing and dance moves will leave you sweating, pumped, and ready to take on the world!

 

Boxing Bootcamp

Take your basic cardio kickboxing workout up a notch with the inclusion of bootcamp-style bodyweight strength exercises. Punches and push ups; side kicks and squats!

 

 

CHECK OUT OUR EXpress Series

The EXpress series is designed to keep you engaged with a variety of circuit style exercises. If you are short on time or just need the extra push to get back in gear, then this class is for you. In just 20 minutes, you will experience a course that will help increase your metabolism and maximize calorie burn to get meaningful results. Each targeted class will take you from one exercise to the next in a fun and motivating environment working at heart rates from fat burning to cardio. Attend all 5 throughout the week for a complete program!

 

EXpress Total Body Conditioning

A total body workout for total results switching from cardio and fat burning heart rates. Train your body with quick and effective exercises that will help maximize burn for optimal definition.

 

EXpress Strength

Now let use the method of lower reps and more sets working at a heart rate in the fat burning region.  Targeted upper and lower body exercises avoiding over-fatiguing any one region.

 

EXpress Core

Challenge your core from every angle with tightening and toning exercises.

 

EXpress Cardio

Add in elements of kickboxing to high impact exercises and you end up working continuously at a heart rate in the cardio region.

Please Note: There is a Service/Convenience Fee assessed for all credit card transactions when using Discover, MasterCard, Visa or American Express (2.45%) 

UMPR PROGRAM REFUND POLICY

If insufficient enrollment causes a class to be cancelled, notification will be given and full tuition refunded, or a credit will be given for future use. (NOTE: The Upper Merion Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel, postpone, combine classes, or change instructors.)

Refunds will only be issued by township check within 30-60 days and are subject to township payment schedule and a $10 processing fee.

-Classes, Lessons and Programs: refunds must be made prior to the start of the second class. There are no make-ups, pro-rating or refunds for missed classes

-One or two-day events: One-week notice of cancellation is required for full refund

-Camps (ADC, ADC2, Camp Beechtree, and Consortium for the Arts): NO Refunds will be given after the Start of Camp

-Camp trip cancellations: No refund will be given

-Excursions or Outings: Refunds must be requested 7 days in advance of trip date

-Discount Ticket purchases are non-refundable

-Purchases of one-day guest passes are non-refundable


UMPR Community Center Passholder Refund

-No refunds will be given for Annual and 3-month Community Center memberships.

-Passholders who have a monthly membership payment will need to request a refund 30 days prior to their cancellation.

-Passholders who cancel their membership and who have received a discount as a result of their membership will be assessed the difference in program fees, and that difference will be charged and reflected in the refunded amount.
