The police department received Accreditation from the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission on July 10, 2004.

Community Response: 
The police department has a full-time Community Response Officer who, along with fellow officers, works closely with residents, schools, businesses, and the Police Citizens Advisory Board to promote safety, education, and crime prevention throughout the township.

K-9 Patrol:     

Our department has two officers and their canine partners assigned to this unit. Officer Richard Hiller and his partner RJ are trained in patrol work, tracking, and explosives detection. Officer Glenn Muntzer and his partner Mike are trained in patrol work, tracking, and drug detection.

Montgomery County Major Incident Response Team (MIRT):

Our department is an active member of this countywide team. This team consists of specially trained officers responsible for crowd / traffic control at large-scale events and emergency scenes throughout the county. These officers are also capable of responding to chemical / biological terrorist incidents.


Montgomery County SWAT Central Region Team (MSWAT-CR): 

Our department is an active member of this regional team. This team is responsible for high-risk search / arrest warrants, hostage-taking situations, barricaded subjects, active shooters, and other incidents of a high-risk nature.

Traffic Safety Unit:

This unit is responsible for investigating and analyzing all traffic accidents of a serious nature. This unit also responds to citizen complaints dealing with highway safety and vigorously enforces all traffic laws within the township.
