2008 Goals and Objectives


  1. Identify future staffing requirements of sworn and non-sworn personnel and develop a timely hiring sequence
    > Action Steps:
    a.  Analysis of increased demands created by changes in police operations and new technology
    b.  Analysis of calls for service (crime/traffic/etc.) patterns over the past several years
    c.  Include impact of major development projects (Village at Valley Forge, JPI, etc.)
    d.  Develop a hiring sequence timed to stay abreast of the required staffing
  2. Continue to improve the department's capabilities regarding response to critical incidents/homeland security issues
    > Action Steps:
    a.  Develop a program for small scale table-top exercises/what if discussions to be conducted at roll calls and staff meetings
    b.  Establish a formal major incident review policy/program
    c.  Buffer Zone Protection Plan: complete installation and maximize benefits
    d.  Continue to train on and utilize Incident Command Sysem protocols. Consider possible use of new Montgomery County ICS Immersion Center
    e.  Stay abreast of developments in regard to the Avian Flu health issue
    f.  Law Enforcement Justice Information System (LEJIS): Continue our participation in this SE Pennsylvania computerized information sharing system
