The Upper Merion Township Police Department is now accepting applications for its next "Citizens Police Academy." This session will begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 and will conclude on May 26, 2009. The Academy is open at no cost to Upper Merion Township residents only, eighteen years or older with a valid driver's license. The class size will be limited to 20 residents. Applicants not selected for the current session will be considered for subsequent sessions, unless otherwise indicated by applicant. Class sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 p.m. until approximately 9:00 p.m., for a period of about 10 weeks. The purpose of the Academy is to provide township residents with a basic knowledge of various police functions in a fun and interactive way. Graduates will not be certified in any way to enforce the law. The deadline for receipt of completed applications is Friday, March 13, 2009 at 4:00 PM.
