Hellen Salters, Awards Chair, presented the Upper Merion Martin Luther King National Holiday Committee's Humanitarian Award to the Upper Merion Township Police Department. The award was presented on January 17, 2008, during ceremonies at the Upper Merion Area School District Middle School.

Chief of Police Ronald Fonock (center) accepted the award on behalf of his entire force. Proclamations honoring the department's achievements in diversity and lack of discrimination in providing police services were also offered by State Senator Connie Williams (left), Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel and State Rep. Daylin Leach (right).
