Summer Reading Letter to Patrons
With everything going on in the world right now, we want to assure you of a little good news – we WILL be holding Summer Reading this year, even if we don’t quite know how it will look yet!
Our 2020 summer reading program theme is Imagine Your Story, and there are programs for those entering Kindergarten through adults. Our goal? To get the entire community reading!
We never imagined our story would include being closed for an extended time to the public!
We are hoping to see you in the library this summer – but even if that cannot happen, we will have a virtual summer reading program ready to launch. Registration for summer reading for children entering Kindergarten – 8th grade will open on May 1st. We encourage you to register online through Beanstack.
Please bear with us. We are working hard to figure out the best way to provide programs you know and love while keeping our community safe and healthy. Check our website and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information about the library’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

For Kids from Birth – Preschool
Although we don’t offer a specific Summer Reading program for PreK children, we do offer a year-round program called 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages families to read 1,000 books together before your child reaches Kindergarten (and yes, you can do it)! This program paired with our storytimes and other classes for PreK children combines social interaction with early literacy skills preparing young children for school in fun and inviting atmospheres both at home and at the library! Learn more about 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten or email us at uppermeriontownshiplibrary@gmail.com for more information.

For Teens Entering 9th – 12th Grade
Beginning on June 15th, there will be a link on the library’s homepage to record your reviews of books, movies, music, and videogames! A few sentences review automatically enters you for a prize drawing at the end of the summer! The more often you enter, the better chance you have of winning a prize!
For Adults 18+
We’ve got great prizes for adults too! Beginning on June 15th, there will be a link on the library’s homepage to record your reviews of books, movies, music, and videogames.
