On September 7, 2020, the Upper Merion Township Police Department was called to the Kingswood Apartment Complex for a disturbance that started over a loose dog in the neighborhood. The incident quickly escalated into a verbal and physical altercation. The Upper Merion Police Department is investigating this incident and charges are pending against the actor in this case. Those charges will include ethnic intimidation based on what was said to the victim, along with harassment and related charges.
Upper Merion Township does not tolerate harassment or intimidation in any form, and certainly not that which is racially or ethnically motivated. We strongly condemn any actions like this in our community, as they do not represent Upper Merion Township, and will do everything in our power to prevent this from continuing. We are deeply sorry that the victim in this incident had to endure this physical and verbal harassment while walking in the community.
Upper Merion Township is a wonderfully diverse community that is only strengthened by the racial, ethnic, and religious differences in our neighbors. It has never been more important than now to come together and change the way we treat each other.
