As we celebrate Memorial Day this year, let’s take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the men and women who have served in our military. Their courage, dedication, and service to our country deserve recognition, and Upper Merion Township is proud to honor our veterans through the Hometown Heroes Banner Program.
The Hometown Heroes Banners proudly line the streets of Upper Merion Township, showcasing the names and service of local veterans, both living and deceased. These banners serve as a tribute to the individuals who have honorably served in the armed forces, whether they were current or past residents of our community.
This Memorial Day weekend, we encourage you to take a drive around Upper Merion and view the banners displayed at various Township-owned locations such as Heuser Park Sports Complex, Walker Field, and Upper Merion Area School District-approved sites including Upper Merion Middle School and Gulph Elementary School. You can also spot banners at Mission BBQ, where they proudly display the names of our local heroes.
Each banner is strategically placed on Township-owned lamp poles, and sponsors of the banners select their preferred display location. These banners serve as a permanent reminder of the individuals who have fought for our freedoms.
Let’s come together this Memorial Day to pay our respects and celebrate the service and sacrifices of those honored through the Hometown Heroes program. It’s a beautiful way to show our gratitude for their service and keep their memory alive for future generations.
Thank you to all our veterans for your dedication to our country!
