With the great success of the smoke alarm blitzes in Swedesburg and Swedeland, we’re excited to announce our third and final blitz! On Saturday, August 24, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM, we will host our third event in the King of Prussia section of the township.
Every day, seven people die in home fires, most often because of faulty or missing smoke alarms. We’re aiming to change that by canvassing neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms, and educate families about fire prevention. During our first two blitzes in Swedesburg and Swedeland, our staff and awesome volunteers were able to install over 650 smoke alarms! Our final smoke alarm blitz of 2019 will kick off at Candlebrook Elementary School located at 310 Prince Frederick Street in King of Prussia. MISSION BBQ will generously donate lunch for all of the staff and volunteers who lend their time to make our community safer.
King of Prussia residents will receive a door hanger the week before the event with more information and to let you know the volunteers will be in the area on August 24. You do not have to take any other action. If you are not available on that date but still want to participate, or if you have any questions about special needs alarms or anything else related to smoke alarms, a special hotline has been set up for questions: 484-636-3945.
