Whether you’re jet setting around the globe this summer or having a relaxing stay-cation right here in Upper Merion, the Upper Merion Township Library’s got you covered!
With over 25 different online resources, the eLibrary is available anytime, anywhere! You can download eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines for planes, trains, and automobiles using OverDrive and rbDigital. Maybe you’re finally ready to buy that big-purchase item – check out Consumer Reports Online for ratings and reviews. Traveling overseas or within the U.S.? We’ve got you covered – check out AtoZ World Travel and AtoZ USA for valuable travel information. Maybe you’ll need to learn a new language for your travels – click on Pronunciator or Mango Languages for language learning! Summer might mean practicing for college or graduate school tests – login to Learning Express for tutorials and practice tests.
We’ve also got some amazing resources for kids too! If your kids are into learning about fun facts, check out Scholastic’s TrueFLIX, which has books and activities about all sorts of topics! Your little ones will love TumbleBooks, which are animated picture books that are read aloud. Or if you’re looking at expanding your child’s learning in a fun and interesting way, try out BookFLIX, which pairs a picture book with a nonfiction title about the same subject. Tutor.com is also available all summer long to review material and get ahead for the new school year. Plus, we’ve got so many other online resources to explore: AtoZ World Food filled with recipes from around the world, Chilton’s Auto Repair for those spending the summer hanging out in the garage fixing up a car or truck, and Morningstar Investment Research Center for anyone looking to invest a little money.
Hanging out in the neighborhood this summer? Check out the Library’s Summer Learning Program – A Universe of Stories. Most people are familiar with Summer Reading, but we’re taking it a step further and investing not just in reading, but in learning, all summer long! Plus, it’s not just for the kids. We’ll also have a program for teens and adults with some amazing prizes, many of which are graciously donated by companies within Upper Merion. We have programming happening all summer long for all ages and we’ll be providing outreach programming to the Extended Day Summer Camp, Adventure Day Camp, and the Upper Merion Senior Services Center!
Maybe you want to spend some quality time with friends this summer. How about starting up your own book club? With close to 150 titles for adults and over 100 titles for kids, hosting your book club is a breeze. Just check out a set of books, pass them along to your friends, and spend an afternoon together discussing your favorite characters, setting, plot, and what you plan on reading next. Ask a staff member or visit our website for a list of titles the library has available for book clubs!
We also have museum and cultural passes that you can check out for free! Most admit at least two adults and some assortment of children (the number depends on the pass) for free to local area attractions. Spend a sunny day wandering through Morris Arboretum or Elmwood Park Zoo. If the weather’s not great, check out the African American History Museum, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Museum of the American Revolution, and many more! There’s so much to discover in our own backyard!
And maybe you just need a place to cool off from the summer heat. Stop by and browse a magazine or the newspaper, pick up a DVD for a movie night at home, or use one of our computers to get online for a bit. However you choose to spend your summer vacation, the Upper Merion Township Library is here for you, both physically and virtually!
