Upper Merion Township is fortunate to be served by three completely volunteer fire companies: the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company, the Swedeland Volunteer Fire Company, the Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company, as well as the Lafayette Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
The volunteer system saves taxpayers over $12 million per year. The fire and rescue services are funded 51% by the township, and rely on donations and fundraising for the remainder of their operating costs.
To maintain an effective response capability to natural and man-made emergencies through planning and efficient use of human resources and equipment.
The Fire and Rescue Services Division train on a regular basis to keep their skills up to date. If you see them training in your neighborhood, walk over and take a look at some of the tools and equipment used by the firefighters.
If you are interested in serving the community as a firefighter, emergency medical care provider, or in a support role, contact William Daywalt, Deputy Fire Marshal at 610-205-8554 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Deputy Fire Marshal will forward your information to the appropriate company.
When you contact the Deputy Fire Marshal about volunteering, please provide the following: your name, home or other telephone number, email address and your home address. You must be a minimum of 15 years of age to volunteer. Thank you for exploring the opportunities of volunteering with one of the four agencies of the Upper Merion Township Fire and Rescue Services.
