The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that utility work is planned this week on U.S. 422 in Tredyffrin Township and Upper Merion Township under the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s project to widen and improve the Turnpike and its bridges between milepost 324 and milepost 326.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic traffic paces will be in place in both directions on U.S. 422 between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202 for overhead utility relocation.
In addition, motorists are reminded of the following ongoing travel restrictions related to the Turnpike widening project:
- Alternating right lane closures are planned on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in both directions on N. Gulph Road between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202 in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County for overhead bridge construction; and
- Thomas Road is closed between Walker Road and Gulph Road until late January 2023 for demolition of the existing Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County. Traffic is detoured to Walker Road, Glenhardie Road, and Gulph Road. Following the full closure, Thomas Road will be restricted to one lane for construction of the new overpass.
Motorists should use caution and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic approaching these areas.
Digital message signs will also provide information on closures and detours. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions. The scheduled activities will be pushed back to the following day/evening in the event of any cancellations.
