Pickleball Tournaments

Upper Merion Parks and Recreation – in cooperation with Rave Pickleball Events – will be hosting its inaugural KOP Summer Slam pickleball tournament on Sunday, September 25th. There will be three divisions: Advanced (3.6-4.0 rating) Mixed Doubles M/F and F/F, Advanced Men’s Doubles M/M, and Intermediate (3.0-3.5 rating) Mixed Doubles M/F.

Earliest start time: 8:30am

Ball Used: Onix Pure 2 Outdoor Pickleball (Yellow)

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and you must register as a doubles team. One member of the team will have to register on the Parks and Recreation website – via CommunityPass.  (Must provide teammate’s name, contact info, rating, etc.)  The cost is $50 per team. If you and your partner are at different skill levels, you must play at the skill level of the higher-rated player. Medals and Prizes awarded. Each division must have a minimum of 8 teams.

Registration Closes: Thursday, 9/22

No refunds for cancellations after midnight Friday, 9/23. UMCC will keep a waitlist of players/teams that would like to play. We will make every attempt to pair you with a partner at your skill level, should you need a last minute sub.  However, no refunds will be given for cancellation less than 24 hours before the tournament.

Pickleball – Advanced Adult Doubles League

Ages: 21+
Location: UM Community Center
Director: Rave Pickleball Events

Players will register as a team of two. Each member of the team must be the same gender (M/M or F/F). Teams will play against other teams of the same gender each week in a round robin format. Format will be one game to 15. The women’s and men’s leagues will be separate, but will take place simultaneously—on different courts. The last night will be a mixed gender, “luck of the draw” format, combining men’s and women’s players. Medals will be awarded to winning teams. Play will follow the 2022 USA Pickleball Rule Book. Players must meet Prerequisite Requirements below.

Before enrolling in the Advanced level league, it is strongly suggested that you have successfully participated in open play and/or tournaments against 3.75+ players. Play is limited to high intermediate and advanced players only, who are comfortable with competitive play. On court, requirements include mastery of offensive dinking, block volley, third shot drop, backhand, smashes, lobs, and partner play/position on court.

Pickleball – Intermediate Adult League

Ages: 21+
Location: UM Community Center
Director: Rave Pickleball Events

Players will register as a team of four: two women and two men. Teams will play multiple games each week consisting of women’s doubles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Each team will have the opportunity to submit a substitute roster. Format will be timed games with winners deter-mined by point totals. Medals will be awarded to winning teams. Play will follow the 2022 USA Pickleball Rule Book. Intermediate players must meet Prerequisite Requirements below.

Before enrolling in the Intermediate level league, you need to have experience playing against players who are at a solid to high intermediate level. If you are more comfortable playing at a 3.0 level, please register for the social league. The intermediate league may not be comfortable for a newer pickleball player. On court, minimum requirements include the ability to consistently dink, volley, serve, and return. Play will be competitive. NO LEAGUE PLAY 4/9

Pickleball – Social Adult League

Ages: 21+
Location: UM Community Center
Director: Rave Pickleball Events

In this relaxed atmosphere, individuals will be randomly paired with new players each week using a luck-of-the-draw format. Games are played in a mixed gender, round robin style. New winners will be recognized each week. We welcome players of different abilities within the advanced be-ginner/lower intermediate range. The social league is geared toward players looking for fun, inclusive play that is more structured than open play. This is not a clinic for people who are brand new to pickleball; lessons on how to play pickleball will not be provided. Players must meet Prerequisite Requirements below to register.

Before enrolling in the Social Pickleball league, you must have completed a beginner clinic or lessons, and have successfully participated in on court play with beginners/advanced beginners. You must have a comprehension of score keeping and rules. On court, requirements include the ability to perform a dink, volley, serve, and return. NO INSTRUCTION WILL BE PROVIDED.

Level: 2.75-3.25 Rating
